The contract was awarded to Ranco Construction in 2016. According to the resolution awarding the contract, the council determined that emergency generators at the water plant and firehouse warrant replacement and a new generator needs to be installed at the Birch Drive pump station.

The change order was made on the recommendation of Borough Engineer William Wentizen, according to the resolution approving the increase in the contract. The resolution states that field conditions required a change in a gas tank, electrical upgrades and underground field repairs.

In other business at the Nov. 20 meeting, council members passed a resolution authorizing a building permit fee reduction for the Freehold First Aid and Emergency Squad, a volunteer organization that provides emergency medical services in Freehold Borough and Freehold Township.

The squad’s headquarters is on Spring Street in the borough.

According to the resolution, the squad is embarking on a construction project, including the replacement of the roof of the building on Spring Street. The organization’s officers requested financial assistance with payment of the building permit fees.

The council, according to the resolution, has waived building permit fees for the improvements and repairs. The maximum amount to be waived may not exceed $600.

Finally, the council passed a resolution confirming the appointment of Catherine Ruddy as a full-time school crossing guard.
