CASA for Children is a nonprofit organization which works through community volunteers to help foster children from Monmouth County who have been removed from their homes because of extreme parental abuse, neglect or abandonment.
CASA works to help ensure these children receive the services they need, that their cases do not languish in the child welfare system and that they are protected from any further risk of abuse or neglect while in placement, all while helping them move toward safe and permanent homes, according to a press release.
Although CASA continues to serve more children each year, the need for volunteers continues to grow as more children enter the child welfare and court systems.
To help meet this need, the CASA program is looking for individuals who are willing to take on an important role for abused or neglected children. As a CASA volunteer, an individual would be an advocate for children who are involved in the court system. Caring committed adults who are willing to speak up for a child as they go through the court system are needed now, according to the press release.
CASA volunteers serve one child/sibling group at a time by advocating for that child’s best interests. They make sure the child is safe, well-cared for, getting the services he or she needs, and are placed in a permanent, safe, nurturing home as quickly as possible, according to the press release.
