North Brunswick reports reduction in crime during 2017

NORTH BRUNSWICK – The 2017 year-end statistics are in for the North Brunswick Police Department (NBPD).

The NBPD handled a total of 86,151 incidents, of which 25,830 were calls for service from the public, according to a statement prepared by the department.

There were 2,036 motor vehicle crashes reported  and investigated. Of 24,357 motor vehicle stops conducted, 31,296 summonses were issued, according to the statement.

There were 1,592 arrests made during the year.

Violent Crime stats were down by 23 percent, including aggravated assaults, which were down by 34 percent, according to the statement.

Residential and non-residential burglaries were both down from the previous year, by almost 30 percent. Robberies, assaults, burglaries, larcenies, motor vehicle thefts and arsons were all reduced from their totals of 10 years ago, according to the statement.
