Freehold council OKs purchase of road materials

FREEHOLD – The purchase of $352 in road maintenance materials has been approved by the Borough Council in Freehold Borough.

Council members passed a resolution on Jan. 16 awarding a contract for the purchase of road maintenance materials which will be provided by Stavola Asphalt, Walter R. Earle Companies and RWV Land & Livestock South.

According to the resolution, the council determined a need exists to enter into two-year contracts for the purchase of road maintenance materials. Freehold Borough, Freehold Township, Manalapan and Marlboro cooperatively entertained competitive bids for the purchase of the materials, with Freehold Borough serving as the lead agency.

Freehold Borough is an active participant and the lead agency in the Western Monmouth Cooperative Purchasing Group, according to the resolution.

In other business, the council accepted Mayor Nolan Higgins’ 2018 nominations and appointments of Karen Ketcham to the Memorial Day Parade Committee for a one-year term expiring Dec. 31 and Dr. Carolyn Matflerd to the Library Commission for a five-year term expiring Dec. 31, 2022.

The council confirmed the resignation of David Dafeldecker as plumbing sub-code official, effective Jan. 4; the appointment of Robbie Bailey as plumbing sub-code official pending certain testing requirements; and Yameenah Mayfield and Kevin Krause as probationary members of the Freehold Fire Department, Good Will Hook & Ladder Company, effective Jan. 16.
