JACKSON – A resident of Trenton and a resident of Robbinsville have been charged with allegedly supplying drugs that caused the death of a Jackson resident in August.

On Jan. 19, Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato and Jackson Police Chief Matthew Kunz announced the arrest of Genuine Baines, a 19-year-old male from Trenton, and Lindsay Robson, a 28-year-old female from Robbinsville, in connection with the drug-induced death of Lisa M. Guadagno, 42, of Jackson.

The prosecutor’s office “will continue to lead the way in developing strict liability/drug-induced death cases. It is critical during this opiate crisis that we take strong punitive measures against dealers bringing death to those fighting addiction,” Coronato said.

The prosecutor said Baines and Robson’s arrests stem from an investigation into the death of Guadagno which began Aug. 1, 2017. He said Jackson police received a 911 call from a person who reported Guadagno was unresponsive at her residence. Upon arrival, the officers attempted life-saving measures which proved to be unsuccessful, according to Coronato.

Detective John Carroll of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and personnel from the Jackson Police Department began an investigation into who was responsible for supplying the fatal narcotic to Guadagno.

The investigation identified Baines and Robson as the alleged dealers. After a toxicology report and an autopsy report confirmed Guadagno’s death was drug-induced, arrest warrants were authorized for Baines and Robson, according to the prosecutor.

Coronato said Robson was taken into custody in mid-December, however, Baines had fled. Carroll forwarded the arrest warrant for Baines to the U.S. Marshal’s Service Fugitive Task Force in Mercer County.

The prosecutor’s office was notified in mid-January that Baines had been taken into custody by members of the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force at a residence in Hamilton Township.

Baines and Robson have each been charged with strict liability drug-induced death, possession of heroin, possession with the intent to distribute heroin and distribution of heroin, according to the prosecutor.
