The Red Bank Borough Council adopted an ordinance approving a one-year lease agreement for a 5,000-square-foot fenced-in property for the purpose of a police impound yard.

Mayor Pasquale Menna said the police department previously used Tinton Falls’s impound yard; however, in 2017 the borough was notified that it could no longer use the impound yard and that it had to remove all its vehicles.

“We have no home, so we needed an impound yard and this was what we came up with. Perhaps with the new mayor, we might be able to go back to the impound yard. I’ll have the pleasure of discussing that with his honor,” Menna said during the Feb. 14 council meeting.

The impound yard is located at 208 South Pearl St., according to the mayor.

According to Menna, the police department has already started using the new impound yard.
