Easter came early for residents of Middletown Township when the community gathered at the Middletown Arts Center for the annual Easter Eggstravaganza.

With hundreds of local people in attendance at the event that was held on March 24, families were able to enjoy arts and crafts, a special show, face painting and even an outdoor petting zoo where children could interact with, feed, and play with farm animals.

“It’s all for the kids,” said Cloverland Entertainment volunteer Keely Serridge.

Cloverland Entertainment, which is headquartered in Frenchtown, provided the animals for the petting zoo.

Unfortunately, the day’s main attraction, the egg hunt, was canceled due to the snow that was still covering parts of the area.

But all hope was not lost. Volunteer Stephanie Dredger broke the news to a sea of pastel rabbit ears that the Easter bunny had arrived for pictures.

“The bunny is here! Yay! He is here! announced Dredger.

Bright smiles and a tiny applause were spotted from the crowd of children waiting patiently, baskets in hand.

With a line expanding throughout the building, parents waited with their children for their Easter photo.

“Today is always a great day to work within the community. The children get to come out with their families and have a really enjoyable time,” said Dredger.

Volunteers from the Middletown Township Public School System were said to have helped make the day a true success – assisting in all of the day’s Easter activities.

“It is heartwarming to see the students that I taught grow up and become a part of their community, said volunteer and third-grade teacher Janet McClarem.
