Regarding the May 16 letter to the editor in the News Transcript encouraging Democratic voters to educate themselves before coming out on Primary Day, June 5, I watched some of the recent debates between Jim Keady and Josh Welle, who are vying to oppose Representative Chris Smith (R-NJ) in New Jersey’s 4th Congressional District.

I was impressed by Keady, a dynamic candidate who espouses the progressive change I want: Medicare for all, a $15 minimum wage, campaign finance reform, and equal pay for women. Welle, on the other hand, is moderate and does not seem far removed from the views of the long-serving Smith.

In addition to watching these debates online, I also searched for the ballot to familiarize myself prior to June 5. Keady has been positioned in column 3, all by himself, so I will have no problem casting my vote on Primary Day.
