Longtime trustees and Monmouth County Historical Association (MCHA) supporters Daren Hutchinson and Suzanne Post will be honored for their dedication and service to the preservation of Monmouth County, said Lisa Maher, who is the Director of Development and Communications at the MCHA.

Maher said that the annual Garden Party proudly recognizes the contributions that are made by its staff members throughout the year.

In a statement, MCHA Board of Trustees President Linda Bricker said, “It is a privilege and honor for all the members of MCHA to recognize Daren and Suzy for their unwavering support of the Association, and for their heartfelt commitment to preserving the rich legacy of Monmouth County. For over three decades, the tireless efforts of Daren and Suzy have been instrumental in the growth and success of MCHA and allowed for the preservation of countless historical treasures. In addition, we are so grateful for their enthusiasm and friendship that have enhanced all the lives they have touched.”

Post began her 40 years of service with MCHA as a volunteer, Maher said. She joined the Board of Trustees in 1979 and helped to develop several successful fundraising activities.

Post served a four-year term as President of the Board, while she worked closely with the Trustees as well as the Executive Director, in order to increase the visibility and scope of the MCHA. Host transitioned to serve on the Nominating Committee where she currently identifies new candidates for the Board, according to a press release.

Hutchinson began as a volunteer docent for The Battle of Monmouth Exhibit at the MCHA. She rose to chair the Silent Auction committee at the Garden Party, and later took on the chairmanship of the Ad Journal, according to a press release.

Hutchinson was co-chair of the Garden Party for several years and worked with Trustees and volunteers to expand the scope and revenue the annual celebration.

Hutchinson joined the Board of Trustees in 2011. During her six-year term, she chaired the Development Committee where she oversaw the creation of new fundraising alternatives and the evaluation and improvement of existing programs.

Hutchinson was an early advocate for opening the Taylor Butler House to hold MCHA events.

Tickets for the Garden Party start at $135 per person.
