She has worked for more than 45 years as a church organist-choir director; she is a member of the American Guild of Organists, and has served as dean of the Middlesex chapter. She developed an interest in law as it affected teachers, and she went to Seton Hall School of Law, working for several law firms and organizations before beginning her career at Middlesex County College.

She is a full-time professor, teaching paralegal, business and marketing courses, and has been assistant chair of the department, curriculum coordinator of the paralegal program, as well as faculty advisor to the Student Law Association.

She was escorted to the podium by Wilson Torres, a Rutgers student and a recipient of a scholarship from the New Brunswick High School Class of 1973.
