A public hearing on the ordinance is scheduled for July 19. The committee may adopt the ordinance that evening.

In other business, committee members passed a resolution hiring Justin Leonard as an on-call per diem firefighter for the Hope Fire Company, which provides firefighting and emergency services to Upper Freehold and Allentown.

According to the resolution, Leonard was hired because township officials determined it is necessary to have per diem firefighters on-call to fill in during vacation days, sick days or under other circumstances that may arise. Leonard will be paid a per diem salary based on an hourly rate of $13 per hour.

The committee also passed a resolution acknowledging the resignation of Robert Doherty, a DPW mechanic. According to the resolution, Doherty was hired on a probationary basis as a full-time mechanic in the DPW in 2013 and was reclassified to a permanent employee later that year. His last day of work was June 7.

Finally, committee members acknowledged the resignation of David Edward Burns, an on-call per diem municipal court security officer. According to the resolution, Burns was hired in February and submitted a letter of resignation in May.
