FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP – The Township Committee has authorized an additional $78,320 to Freehold Township’s well maintenance and motor repairs contractor for work performed during an emergency.

On July 10, committee members authorized the payment to be added to a contract with A.C. Schultes Inc., Woodbury Heights, for emergency repairs of well No. 14 at the Jackson Mills water treatment plant on Jackson Mills Road.

According to a resolution, the repairs were needed immediately due to public health and safety concerns and the additional funds allowed A.C. Shultes to immediately make the necessary repairs to Well No. 14.

A.C. Shultes was initially awarded a two-year contract for well maintenance and motor repairs in the utilities department. The company’s bid for 2016 and 2017 totaled $53,802.

In 2017, committee members extended the contract for an additional year. According to a resolution, $80,000 would be appropriated from the 2018 municipal budget for A.C. Shultes.

In addition to the emergency repairs, A.C. Shultes was also awarded a $49,000 contract this year for the rehabilitation of well No. 3 at the municipal water facility. Following two change orders, the contract currently totals $54,001.

In other business, the committee extended a contract with Montana Construction Corporation Inc. for as needed repairs and the installation of water and sewer components and emergency services. Officials said $164,489 will be appropriated to the company in the 2019 municipal budget.
