SOUTH RIVER – As a result of a two-month investigation, police allege employees of the Golden Spa in South River offered sexual acts in exchange for money.
Members of the South River Police Department’s Detective Bureau, in partnership with members of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office Task Force, executed a Superior Court-authorized search warrant upon the massage parlor, which is located at 268 Main St., around 5 p.m. on Sept. 5, according to information provided by the South River Police Department on Sept. 28.
The investigation was the result of several tips from the public alleging prostitution, according to the statement.
Two employees,  a 48-year-old from Tuckerton, was charged with promoting prostitution and engaging in prostitution, while a 40-year-old from South River was charged with two counts of engaging in prostitution. After processing, both were released with pending court dates at Middlesex County Superior Court, according to the statement.
Additionally, the owner of the business, identified as 61-year-old from East Brunswick, was charged with maintaining a nuisance and money laundering.
With assistance from a South River building official, the business has been shut down due to numerous code violations, according to the statement.
Anyone with information should call Detective Joseph Castellano of the South River Police Department at 732-254-9002, ext.106.
