Shoulder injuries are frequently caused by athletic activities that involve excessive, repetitive overhead motion. Examples of this are swimming, tennis, pitching and weightlifting. In addition, everyday activities such as gardening, house cleaning, window washing and hanging curtains can cause injury.

According to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, if you are experiencing pain in your shoulder, ask yourself the following questions:

  • Is your shoulder stiff? Can you rotate your arm in all the normal positions?
  • Does it feel like your shoulder could pop out or slide out of the socket?
  • Do you lack the strength in your shoulder to carry out your daily acvtivities?

If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, call Cunningham Orthopaedics at 732-264-5454 and schedule an appointment. Dr. Cunningham will personally attend to you from diagnosis to treatment to recovery. Early detection is the key to preventing serious shoulder injuries.
