Fire department will receive new vehicle

FREEHOLD – The purchase of a fire chief’s vehicle for the Freehold Fire Department has been authorized by the Borough Council in Freehold Borough.

On Oct. 1, council members approved the purchase of a vehicle from Day Motors, Monroeville, Pa, through a state contract. The maximum cost for the vehicle will be $40,031, according to the resolution.

The council authorized the purchase after fire department officials sought to have a Chevrolet Tahoe utility truck purchased for fire operations, according to the resolution.

In other business, council members authorized substitute/alternate municipal prosecutors in the borough. The following attorneys may serve as the municipal prosecutor if the regular prosecutor is not available: Gregory Cannon, William McGuinn, Donald Driggers, James Butler, Stephen Schueler, Sean Kean, Meghan Bennett Clark, Anthony Vecchio, James Carton, Kimberly Casten, Ronald Sage, Pasquale Menna, Mario Delano, Jason Shamy and Robert Cosgrove.

And, the council accepted Mayor Nolan Higgins’ nomination and appointment of Dr. Edward Stoner to the Board of Health. Stoner will fill an unexpired term through Dec. 31.

Finally, council members confirmed the following personnel appointments and actions: the appointments of Harry Belkowitz and Lauren Ellmer as substitute crossing guards in the Freehold Police Department; and the resignation of Darren Maine as a member of the Freehold Borough Fire Department, Engine & Hose Company No. 1.
