The North Brunswick Historical Society is seeking information from anyone who may know the history of the township’s original veterans memorial on Georges Road.

The memorial, adjacent to Van Liew Cemetery, is dedicated “In Memory of Those Who Gave Their Lives for Freedom” and includes insignias for five fraternal organizations. However, the stone bears no installation or dedication date and its origins are not documented.

The Historical Society is working with the Georges Road Business Council and the World War I Centennial Committee to host a brief service at the memorial at 11 a.m. Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans Day. Members of the public are invited to attend and participate.

Anyone with knowledge on the history of the memorial should email nbhistsoc1779@gmail.com.
