The improvements to Jonathan Holmes Road will take place from Route 537, a Monmouth County road, to Meirs Road. Municipal officials determined this section of Jonathan Holmes Road is in a state of disrepair and is in need of reconstruction, according to a resolution.

Municipal officials want to reconstruct the road under the DOT’s municipal aid trust fund program for fiscal year 2019, according to the resolution.

According to information provided by the state, Upper Freehold Township received $350,000 in funding from the DOT for the first phase of improvements to Jonathan Holmes Road in fiscal year 2018.

For fiscal year 2019, the total DOT allocation for Monmouth County municipalities is $10.3 million, according to information provided by the state. If its requested grant is approved, Upper Freehold will receive a portion of the $10.3 million county allocation.
