Around 6:30 a.m., Officer Jason Gassman responded to the intersection of Route 27 and Heathcote Road. The impact of the crash caused the traffic light to fall onto a local business on Route 27, according to information provided by the South Brunswick Police Department.

A witness reported seeing a white tractor trailer stopped at the intersection after the crash occurred. The witness said a black male exited the cab of the tractor and appeared to observe the damage. The witness said the driver then re-entered his tractor trailer and left the area toward Route 27 north, according to reports.

Officers from the South Brunswick and Franklin police departments were on scene for almost four hours while repairs were made to the traffic signal.
