Former volunteer firefighter from Iselin sentenced for enticing child to produce explicit images

A Woodbridge man who worked as an emergency medical technician and volunteer firefighter was sentenced to 135 months in prison for enticing a child to produce sexually explicit images.

Zachary Motta, 24, of the Iselin section of Woodbridge, previously pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Freda L. Wolfson to an information charging him with one count of online enticement of a minor to engage in criminal sexual activity, according to information provided by U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito.

Wolfson imposed the sentence on Nov. 27 in Trenton federal court.

According to documents filed in this case and statements made in court, beginning in October 2016, Motta communicated with a boy who told Motta he was 12 years old. Motta used a computer and internet connection to ask the victim to send a picture of himself nude, which he did.

In addition to the prison term, Wolfson sentenced Motta to five years of supervised release and ordered him to pay a $5,000 Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act assessment.
