Rabbi Levi Azimov of the Chabad Jewish Center will offer Crime and Consequence, a new six-session course by the Rohr Jewish Learning Institute (JLI), exploring 3000 years of Jewish perspective on conviction, sentencing and criminal rehabilitation.

Beginning 7:45-9:15 p.m. on Feb. 5, participants will ponder the implications of ancient Talmudic wisdom for complex modern cases, and get to the heart of the most pressing injustices facing the criminal justice system today. What is the goal of criminal punishment? Should we consider testimonies given in exchange for a reduced sentence as reliable evidence? Is life without parole a justifiable penalty? May we sentence a person to death?

registration and other course-related information.

The Chabad Jewish Center is located at 1 Riva Ave., South Brunswick.
