In January, the Township Committee in Freehold Township authorized the shared services agreement with Freehold Borough.

According to the agreement, the inspectors or code officials of Freehold Borough and Freehold Township may provide services to the other municipality on an as-needed basis or on an extended basis including, but not limited to inspections and/or plan review. Both municipalities will be reimbursed for the provision of construction code services at the employee’s rate of pay.

According to the agreement, the rate of pay for Matt Young, the building subcode official/fire subcode official in Freehold Borough, is $1,138 per week. The rate of pay for Paul Vitale, the as-needed electrical official in Freehold Township, is $76.50 an hour for regular hours and $90 an hour for after-hours work.

In other business on Feb. 4, council members confirmed the appointment of Katherine Mulholland as the director of the Freehold Public Library. Mulholland will succeed Barbara Greenberg, who recently retired as the library’s director after more than three decades of service.

Finally, council members confirmed the resignation of Jamie Bennett as a member of the Planning Board and appointed Jose Geronimo as a regular member of the board through Dec. 31, 2020.
