Edison Public Library announces upcoming programs

The North Edison Public Library will hold “D-Day June 6, 1944 – Why Did It Succeed?” at 7 p.m. on June 18 at the North Edison branch, 777 Grove Ave., Edison.

Paul Zigo, director of the World War II Era Institute, will review details of this crucial invasion and the critical role played by the 29th US Infantry Division across Omaha Beach, Normandy, France.

Family and Friends CPR will be offered by Hackensack Meridian Health, in partnership with the Kittim Sherrod Foundation, at 7 p.m., June 18, at the Edison Main Public Library, 340 Plainfield Ave., Edison.

Lean about lifesaving skills of adult hands-only CPR, adult CPR with breaths, child CPR with breaths, adult and child AED use, infant CPR, and mild and severe airway block for adults, children, and infants. Skills are taught in a dynamic group environment using the AHA’s research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which provides students with the most hands-on CPR practice time possible.

“Invest in Yourself: Strategizing to Achieve Financial Balance” at 7 p.m. on June 11 at the Edison Main Public Library, 340 Plainfield Ave., Edison, will assist attendees in creating a game plan to create a financial and lifestyle strategy that fits their needs. Learn how expenses, debts, savings and current income flows will affect finances.

“Paying for Nursing Home Care for Seniors” will be held at 7 p.m. on June 25 at the Edison Main Public Library, 340 Plainfield Ave., Edison.

This seminar is designed to help with options, avoid unseen pitfalls, expenses, and ensure that the necessary care is available when you or your loved one needs it. This information session is essential for seniors, caregivers, and families interested in learning more about nursing home care.

Both the Edison Main Public Library and the North Edison Public Library will host Strong Bones for a Lifetime with Dr. Kathleen Morgan, is a Family & Community Health Sciences professor at Rutgers University.

This education program will help individuals learn more about the prevention, management and treatment of osteoporosis; how to prevent fractures; how to maintain or build stronger bones; calcium and vitamin D; physical activity and falls prevention.

The program will be offered at 7 p.m. on June 17 at the North Edison Public Library, 777 Grove Ave., Edison, and at 7 p.m. on July 2 at the Edison Main Public Library, 340 Plainfield Ave., Edison.
