Slavicek, 38, was born and raised in Helmetta. He said the emphasis for 2020 is to continue obligations of fiscal responsibility and also focus on the enhancement and integration of technology and its benefits to the borough and residents.

For Borough Council, Ronald Dzingleski and Joseph W. Reid, who also ran under Aligning Helmetta’s Future, received 263 votes/33% and 282 votes/35%, respectively.

Republican challengers Vincent Asciolla and James Misner received 138 votes/17% and 121 votes/15%, respectively.

There were no Democratic opponents.

Dzingleski and Reid will serve their second terms. Both councilmen filled open seats in 2016 and have served four years on the council.

Dzingleski, 54, who has lived in Helmetta for 45 years, said he will “continue planning and holding recreation events while maintaining the recreation budget using limited resources, maintaining the municipal budget and looking for ways to reduce municipal taxes, sale of the animal shelter and continue to align Helmetta’s future for generations to come.”

Reid, 29, who was born and raised in Helmetta, said he ran for council because he is a lifelong resident and “this town is also part of me.”

On council, he said he looks forward to see “our small town USA”  grow and evolve together.

Election results from Nov. 5 are according to the Middlesex County Board of Elections and are unofficial until certified.
