‘Jersey Born’ will support local housing program

On March 22, residents of the greater Freehold area will have an opportunity to help the homeless in their hometown.

Volunteers with the Emergency Housing and Advocacy Program (EHAP) will present “Jersey Born,” a music benefit with DJ UnclesNephew spinning the greatest hits from the Garden State’s legendary artists, according to a press release.

“Jersey Born” will take place at 2 p.m. March 22 at the Southgate Manor, South Street, Freehold.

Organizers of the event said the goal is to raise money for the homeless and most vulnerable individuals in the Freehold community. Admission to “Jersey Born” is $100 (tax deductible). For tickets, visit tix.ehapinc.org.

According to the press release, Broadway star John Michael Dias, who starred as Frankie Valli in “Jersey Boys” and played Neil Sedaka in “Beautiful: The Carol King Musical,” will be singing  a number of hits. There will be food and an open bar with paid admission.

EHAP has been in existence for more then 15 years and during a recent winter the program provided almost 1,000 “bed nights” for 26 men during a four-month period, according to the press release.

EHAP provides individuals in need with a warm and dry place to sleep, a hot supper and a nourishing breakfast.

The program also provides advocacy services that include job assistance, housing, transportation, etc., without judgment or intolerance while showing respect and empathy for each individual, according to the press release.
