Borough Council members have authorized the purchase of video recording equipment for the Freehold Borough Police Department.

On Aug. 3, council members resolved to purchase body worn cameras and motor vehicle recorders from Island Technical Services, Somerville. The cost of the equipment and supporting software will be $128,188.

The purchase was made on the recommendation of the Public Safety Committee, according to a resolution.

In other business, council members authorized an application for the Governor’s Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Fiscal Grant Cycle.

The council authorized the submission of a strategic plan for a Freehold Township and Freehold Borough Municipal Alliance grant in 2021 in the amount of $33,640.

Finally, council members confirmed the resignations of Gianna Dell’Omo and Jane Fields as members of the Human Relations Committee; the resignation of Jose Geronimo as a member of the Planning Board; the resignation of David Loring as a member of the Historic Preservation Committee; and the appointment of Michael Krause as a seasonal laborer in the Department of Public Works.
