The parade was canceled last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Parade marchers will step off at 10 a.m. May 29 from the Lawrence High School parking lot, then wind their way onto Darrah Lane to Birchwood Knoll and then onto Berwyn Place and back to the high school parking lot.

“We look forward to honoring the men and women who sacrificed their lives so that we may live in a country where freedom can never be forgotten,” the Lawrence Township Patriotic Committee wrote in a statement.

Sam Alphin will be the parade grand marshal and speaker. He is a member of American Legion Post 414 of Lawrence Township.

Holding the parade this year is important for the morale of the Lawrence community, said Municipal Manager Kevin Nerwinski.

“It signals a return to some normalcy after a year-and-a-half of challenges we never faced before. It’s time to reclaim and do the things that make Lawrence a special community,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Lawrence Township Patriotic Committee is encouraging groups and organizations to sign up to march in the parade.

A registration form for parade participants is available on the Lawrence Township Recreation Department page on the township website at www.lawrencetwp.com

The Memorial Day ceremony will be held after in Veterans Park.
