Former fire company treasurer charged with theft and official misconduct

A former treasurer of East Windsor Volunteer Fire Co. No. 2 has been charged with theft and official misconduct for allegedly stealing approximately $58,000 from the fire company over several years, according to the East Windsor Township Police Department.

Michael V. Crismali, 43, who lives in East Windsor, allegedly misappropriated the money at various times between April 2017 and July 2019, police said.

The volunteer fire company is located at 69 Twin Rivers Dr.

Fire company officials reported their suspicions to the police department last month, according to reports. An investigation revealed the alleged theft, and Crismali was charged and released pending court action, police said.

The charges have been forwarded to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office for prosecution.
