Cranbury School District has found a new business administrator to succeed current administrator David Weidele.
Karin Weiner, who is currently a mathematics teacher at the school, is being recommended by the district administration to fill Weidele’s position as business administrator after his resignation takes effect at the end of the month.
Weidele is taking the open business administrator position with Old Bridge Township Public Schools, which starts Feb. 1.
“We received numerous applicants and put together a stakeholder committee made up of administrators, board members, teachers, and business department staff to interview candidates,” said Jennifer Diszler, Cranbury School chief school administrator and superintendent.
“I am proud to announce that we found a candidate who knows our district extremely well. We are excited to share that our very own Karin Weiner is being recommended for the position and will be brought forth for board approval at the April meeting.”
Weiner is currently a mathematics teacher for the middle school grades at the Cranbury School and has been with the school for more than six years.
“Ms. Weiner has a degree in accounting and with her knowledge of education and of Cranbury, we see her as a perfect fit for the future of our district,” Diszler added. “With that being said, Ms. Weiner serves an incredibly important role here at Cranbury School and filling her position is of the utmost importance.”
In her letter to the school community, Diszler explained that Weiner will spend some time transitioning in the business office between now and April.
“Her priority will continue to be the classroom,” she noted. “The Board of Education approved a business administrator consulting company to support the district as interim business administrator during this transitional period.”
The school board at its Dec. 14 meeting approved school accounting and consulting services with School Accounting Services, LLC, a firm in Mount Arlington.
The contract with School Accounting Services will provide mentoring and training to Weiner and will provide services as interim school business administrator.
The school district is paying $7,500 for the mentoring service and training from Feb. 1 to June 30 in addition to the $150 per hour for interim school business administrator services on an as needed basis that cannot exceed a total of $3,000.
