The council also approved an ordinance to amend the borough’s code by amending Chapter eight, the Building and Housing, and Chapter 13, Streets and Sanitation.

Prior to passing the two ordinances, the council approved three letters of request.

One request came from St. George by the River Episcopal Church, which asked permission to hold a live auction in conjunction with the Canterbury Art Show that will take place on Sept. 3, starting at 4 p.m. and running until 6 p.m.

St. George by the River Episcopal Church’s entire Canterbury Art Show will take place on Labor Day weekend on Sept. 1 to the 4, according to the Canterbury Art Show website.

The council also approved a request from the Oceanic Hook and Ladder Co.1, inviting the Mayor John Ekdahl and the council to attend the annual “Fireman’s Memorial Day Ceremony” and supplying the fire drivers for the borough’s fire trucks.

The Oceanic Hook and Ladder Co.1 annual “Fireman’s Memorial Day Ceremony” will take place on May 29.

The final request that the council approved was from the Rumson Fire Company’s  application for a new social membership for Michael P. O’Connor.

Councilman Gary Casazza  briefly spoke during the meeting about the borough’s financial committee that is currently focusing on the capital budget and working with different boards such as the board of education.

The meeting concluded with comments for the public.

Resident Stu Sendell brought up the death of longtime Monmouth County resident Arthur M. Greenbaum, who passed away on April 11. He was a founding member of the firm, Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith and Davis, and a seminal figure in New Jersey’s real estate and legal communities for over six decades, according to the firm’s website.
