Cateret man charged with aggravated assault in Avenel

WOODBRIDGE — A 26-year-old Carteret man was charged following an alleged physical altercation that left a 28-year-old Bellrose, New York, man in serious critical condition, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Woodbridge Police Director Robert Hubner.

Police responded to a 911 call on August 11, police said.

Subsequently, Carteret man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault in the second degree following a verbal argument with the victim which turned physical in the parking lot at 3 Terminal Way, an industrial business area in the Avenel section of Woodbridge.

The victim was taken to University Hospital in Newark. He is listed in serious critical condition.
