North Brunswick students become National Merit scholars

NORTH BRUNSWICK – Nine students from North Brunswick Township High School have been named commended students and four students have advanced to semifinalist status in the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Commended students are Shivaen P. Ahuja, Pruthvi A. Banginwar, Nishreen Bikanerwala, Sanjit Boparai, John W. Kuchler, Sharon Len, Dhruv Mendiratta, Timothy Quach and Abhishek Shetty.

Semi-finalists are Aditya Burle, Kena R. Chavva, Akshaya Dinesh and Angelo Kayser-Brown.

About 34,000 commended students throughout the nation are recognized for their exceptional academic promise, according to information provided by the high school. Although they will not continue in the 2018 competition for National Merit Scholarships, commended students placed among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2018 competition by taking the 2016 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
