J.P. Stevens band has most number of students selected to All-State Band

EDISON – Twenty-two students from the John P. Stevens High School Band program were selected through audition to the 2018 New Jersey All-State Band.

Under the direction of Andrew DeNicola and John Zazzali, these 22 students represent the highest number from any one school in the entire state.

Xavier Lee, clarinet; Shivam Yadav, bass clarinet; Suvan Sundaresh, Contrabass clarinet; Abhishek Taruvai, tenor sax; and Brian Jiang, trumpet, all placed first overall in the state.

Nitya Nadgir, flute; Stephen Juan, English horn; Sohil Shah, bassoon; Jelovus Jeevaraj, clarinet; Syna Tsai, clarinet; William Xing, alto clarinet; Rubin Chang, alto clarinet; Hannah Seo, bass clarinet; Jason Luo, alto sax; Zoe Wang, baritone sax; Matthew Liu, trumpet; Robert Zhu, euphonium; Pranav Krishna, tuba; Ashwin Konkimalla, tuba; Chris Shen, battery percussion; Shruti Tandon, battery percussion; and Mayank Paliwal, battery percussion, were also selected to the band.

The All-State Band will perform at 3 p.m. on Feb. 24 at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) in Newark.
