We Care Adult Care will celebrate Older Americans’ Month

We Care Adult Care in Red Bank will participate in May’s upcoming event “Engage At Every Age” in honor of Older Americans’ Month.

We Care Adult Care is an adult day care center that offers an “unparalleled quality of life” for its members through exercise, music, art, on-site medical assistance, nutritious meals and morale-boosting activities, according to the organization.

Each May, The Administration for Community Living leads the nation in observance of the month-long celebration, according to the Older Americans’ Month website.

Darci Kennedy, activities director for We Care Adult Care, said, “The mission for Older Americans’ Month is to keep everyone engaged by keeping our members out of the house, keeping them social and keeping them happy.”

“I love it here,” said We Care Adult Care member Ann DeSalvo. “This place let’s me keep my sanity.”

According to Kennedy, participating in Older Americans’ Month allows members of the organization to benefit from stimulating activities that strengthen their physical, mental and emotional health.

“These people walk in the door and they just brighten,” Kennedy said. “They are family.”

According to the agenda, the Red Bank facility is set to sponsor free events throughout the month of May. The roster of activities include – a senior fitness day, a celebration in honor of Cinco de Mayo, a Mother’s Day tea party, a Memorial Day barbecue and an exclusive visit from Middletown Mayor Stephanie Murray.

We Care Adult Care also will sponsor a “Senior Expo and Fashion Show” on May 11 at the Monmouth Mall in Eatontown.

The free show will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
