Freehold Borough school district purchases technology equipment

FREEHOLD – The Freehold Borough K-8 School District Board of Education has authorized the purchase and installation of $59,168 worth of technology equipment for areas that have been newly constructed at one of the district’s facilities.

On Sept. 4, board members voted to authorize Business Administrator Joseph Howe and Director of Technology and Assessment Jennifer Donnelly to purchase eight uninterrupted power supplies from CDW-G, 30 wireless access points from Millennium Communications Group and three phone switches from Eastern Datacomm.

The uninterrupted power supplies, wireless access points and phone switches will service areas at the Park Avenue Complex that have been newly constructed as part of an expansion project in the district.

The Park Avenue Complex houses two of the district’s schools, the Park Avenue Elementary School and the Freehold Intermediate School.

According to the resolution authorizing the purchase from CDW-G, the purchase of the uninterrupted power supplies covers eight uninterrupted power supplies and six battery packs for the power supplies. The eight uninterrupted power supplies will cost $13,667 and the six battery packs will cost $3,827, for a total cost of $17,494.

The purchase of the wireless access points, according to the resolution authorizing the purchase from Millennium Communication Group, covers 30 wireless access points, licensing agreements for each access point and the installation and configuration of each access point. The wireless access points will cost $18,792, the licensing agreements will cost $5,400 and the installation and configuration will cost $9,300, for a total cost of $33,492.

The purchase of the phone switches covers three phone switches, six modules, four fiber optic cables, 48 patch cables, the system configuration service for the phone switches and the on-site installation of the switches.

The three phone switches will cost $5,037, the six modules will cost $1,593, the four fiber optic cables will cost $120, the 48 patch cables will cost $206, the system configuration service will cost $525 and the on-site installation will cost $700, according to the resolution authorizing the purchase from Eastern Datacomm.
