The MCFOODS (Middlesex County Food Organization and Outreach Distribution Services) network of more than 120 food pantries throughout Middlesex County is ready to assist any of the 5,000 New Jersey employees who are affected by the furlough of government workers. A directory can be found at www.mciauth.com

SNAP benefits have been funded through February and were distributed on Jan. 17, 10 days earlier than usual.  Recipients will need to budget these funds to last until the end of February and at this point there is no guarantee that funds will be available for March.

MCFOODS is seeking the help of local businesses, clubs and groups to host food and fund drives to help keep pantry shelves stocked and ready to support those in the community who need help.

To set up a food drive, call Jennifer Apostol at 609-409-5033. Make monetary donations payable to Feeding Middlesex County either electronically through their website or with a check mailed to P.O. Box 781, Edison 08818.
