Hopewell Township police are investigating a one-car crash that closed Route 654 for about 30 minutes Thursday morning.
At 8:12 a.m. township police, along with the Pennington First Aid Squad, Pennington Fire Company and the Hopewell Valley Emergency Services, were dispatched to the scene on County Route 654 just east of Route 31.
Officers found a Nissan Altima had hit with a utility pole and came to rest on its side.
The Nissan was driven by 36-year-old man from Hillsborough Township. He was not immediately identified by police. Pennington First Aid Squad took the man to Capital Health Hopewell campus for treatment of minor injuries.
The investigation didn’t immediately reveal why the driver, who was traveling westbound on Route 654, veered off the roadway and into the utility pole.
Route 654 was closed between routes 31 and 612 for about 30 minutes. Traffic was detoured around the crash scene.
The crash is being investigated by Officer James Rosso.
