HOPEWELL TWP.: Oncoming cars collide on Route 546

Two oncoming cars collided at 7:09 p.m. Monday on County Route 546 near George Washington Drive.
The Hopewell Township Police Department, along with the Union Fire Company and Rescue Squad, were dispatched. Officers arrived to find that a Toyota Camry and a Chevrolet Malibu had collided.
The Toyota was driven by Jason Ulrich, 43, from Bayberry Road in Ewing. Mr. Ulrich was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center by the Union Rescue Squad and paramedics from Capital Health with several injuries that did not appear to be life threatening, police said.
The Chevrolet Malibu was driven by John Murphy, 54, from New Road in Hopewell Township. Mr. Murphy was taken to Capital Health Medical Center’s Hopewell campus by the Union Rescue Squad with minor injuries.
Police said Mr. Ulrich was traveling east on Route 546 when his Toyota crossed the centerline into the westbound lane, striking the Chevrolet Malibu coming in the opposite direction.
Route 546 was closed between Jacobs Creek Road and County Route 579 for about three hours.
The crash is being investigated by Officer James Rosso and Detective Frank Tulko of the Hopewell Township Police Department and Detective Don Santora of the Mercer County Prosecutors Office. 
