In a three-block stretch downtown Saturday, Pennington Day featured music on three street stages, dance troupes and community vendors.
Tunes ranged from high school and middle school jazz performers, Community Big Band sounds, Chinese folk music, youthful Mini-Rockers and folk singers.
Pennington Dance Company gave its finale of 36 years of Pennington Day performances under the direction of Nancy Warner, who is retiring.
Kids could bounce and slide on air-filled amusements, and budding artists could try their hand with chalk on sidewalks. Hopewell Valley Quilters held a show of their works. You wouldn’t go hungry – there were two food courts featuring everything from sushi to sausages. Selected youngsters ate pie competitively.
