SOUTH BRUNSWICK – The South Brunswick Police Department has been selected by the state to lead efforts to enhance and improve law enforcement data collection.

The statewide effort is meant to improve the accuracy of existing use-of-force data and to draw correct conclusions about the state of law enforcement by aggregating and comparing disparate information from different law enforcement agencies, according to information provided by Police Chief Raymond Hayducka.

“Our department was one of six departments chosen to take on the initiative with the hope to create a better database of information that will allow officers statewide to better explain what we do and why we do it,” Hayducka said in the Dec. 5 statement.

He said many initiatives and policies the department starts have become best practices around the State.

“We realize that law enforcement is constantly evolving and through training, education, and improved data collection we can meet the new challenges,” he said in the statement.

The pilot program was announced as part of overall changes to law enforcement created under the Excellence in Policing initiative.
