Officials said families wishing to register their child/children for kindergarten for the coming school year, should visit the district website at www.htps.us to complete the pre-registration form. Upon completion of the pre-registration form, a school staff member will be in contact to arrange for the parent/guardian to come in to the school during the registration period to complete the process, according to officials.

School staff members have begun contacting families of students who have already completed the pre-registration form online, officials said.

Officials also said parents who are unsure of their zoned elementary school may contact the district’s transportation department via phone at 908-431-6600 (prompt six for details). All youths who reside in Hillsborough and were born on or before Oct. 1, 2015, are eligible to register for kindergarten for the 2020-21 school year, officials said. A birth certificate (original preferred), immunization records and residency documentation are required at the time of registration, according to officials.

The district explained that parents can register their kindergarten-aged child for the Children at Play (CAP) Program lottery during kindergarten registration as well. The CAP Program is a tuition, thematic-based, play-centered program designed to provide parents with an option to extend the second half of their child’s day in our schools. For additional information regarding the CAP Program and to register for the lottery, visit www.htps.us/CAP.
