WOODBRIDGE – Woodbridge officials reported 28 new positive COVID-19 cases, which brings the total number of cases to 932, said Mayor John McCormac in his daily report on April 20.

“We have averaged 36 per day for the last 10 days and we have only had five lower daily numbers in the month of April,” he said. “While any number related to any resident getting sick is not good having only 28 new cases is clearly among our better days.”

McCormac said the experts like to talk in terms of how long it takes for the number of cases to double.

“It took five days from April 4 to April 9 for the Woodbridge count to double to 459 and then 11 days until today, April 20, to double again to 932,” he said. “Those are very good numbers also, but let’s hope this trend continues and let’s hope we never double again.”

The mayor, in his report, said the outpouring of support for the township’s request for donations to We Feed Woodbridge has been nothing short of amazing. We Feed is collecting the checks and allocating the funds among the township’s 11 food pantries in town.

A collection bin has been set up outside of the Woodbridge Health Center, 1 George Frederick Plaza, between the Main Library and Woodbridge High School. People can drop off non-perishable food donations or continue to mail checks to the Health Department, 1 George Frederick Plaza, Woodbridge, NJ 07095 or to the Mayor’s office at 1 Main Street, Woodbridge, NJ 07095.

McCormac recognized Peter Barcellona, chairman of We Feed Woodbridge, and everyone else from the township’s pantries who have stepped-up to make sure people are served through the food pantries.

The mayor continues to urge neighbors to check on people who live alone and cannot leave their homes.
