Freehold Township officials award contracts for emergency repairs

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP – Two emergency contracts relating to the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems in municipal buildings have been awarded by the Township Committee in Freehold Township.

On Aug. 18, committee members awarded the emergency contracts with a total cost of $24,976.

One contract was awarded to the Carrier Corporation for the emergency repair and replacement of the HVAC condenser coils at the construction building. The contract totaled $16,238 and was issued on Aug. 10.

A second contract was awarded to Automated Building Controls Inc. for the emergency repair and replacement of the HVAC air compressor at the municipal building. The contract totaled $8,738 and was issued on Aug. 3.

Resolutions passed by the committee stated that the repairs were needed immediately because the HVAC problems caused a lack of air conditioning in the buildings and affected the health and safety of employees and members of the public.

In other business, committee members authorized a shared services agreement with Atlantic Highlands for information technology services. According to a resolution, Freehold Township will provide IT services to Atlantic Highlands.

And, the committee passed a resolution asking the to amend the 2020 municipal budget by approving the insertion of $4,007 as an item of revenue. The money is available from a grant for childhood lead exposure prevention. Officials also asked the state to amend the budget by approving the insertion of $7,700 as an item of revenue. The money is available from an agreement with the Visiting Nurse Association for culture of health coalition facilitator services.

During the meeting, municipal officials awarded a $309,033 contract for the replacement of a water main on Lafayette Court to the lowest bidder, Crest Construction Group, LLC.

Other bids from companies seeking to perform the work were received from Perfetto Enterprises Company Inc. ($733,975); Roman E&G Corporation ($483,490); S. Brothers Inc. ($463,750); Jo-Med Contracting Corporation ($429,565); James R. Ientile Inc. ($423,660); Vollers Excavating and Construction Inc. ($408,559); Perna Finnegan Inc. ($377,875); Montana Construction Inc. ($363,535); Earle Asphalt Company Corporation ($351,013); Messercola Excavating Company Inc. ($348,785); and Pillari Bros. Construction Corporation ($329,416), according to a resolution.

Committee members also took the following action:

• Awarded a contract to Hunter Jersey Peterbilt for the purchase of dump truck parts to be used by the Department of Public Works. The one-year contract is in an amount not to exceed $40,000;

• Awarded an estimated $63,198 contract to Lanigan Associates for uniforms for the Freehold Township Police Department;

• Extended a contract with Zebras R Us for sports official services for youth and high school basketball sponsored by the Parks and Recreation Commission. The contract was extended for an additional year and will have an estimated amount of $41,440.
