Hillsborough’s mayor issued a health advisory on Sept. 18 after several instances of probable test positives of COVID-19 occurred in the township.
The initial index case was at DC Gymnastics, Mayor Doug Tomson said in a prepared statement.
In certain circumstances the individuals are either asymptomatic or have very mild symptoms, according to the statement.
The individuals who have tested positive have also had contacts across other community activities, according to the statement.
“Our health team is taking all the necessary precautions to protect our community,” Tomson said in the statement.
The Hillsborough Township health officer and her team are contacting the individuals to conduct contact tracing, according to the statement. Anyone who receives a call from the Hillsborough Township Health Department regarding recent activities, should return the call promptly.
Anyone who has tested positive or receive a call from someone they know who has tested positive, must contact the Hillsborough Township Health Department immediately at 908-369-5652, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays; or email sspano@hillsborough-nj.org during non-business hours.
“It is imperative that you provide accurate and complete information to our contact tracers so that we can protect all of our residents,” Hillsborough Township Health Officer Siobhan Spano said in the statement.
If someones tests positive, they can be contagious even if they do not have any symptoms.
All positive tests need to be reported to the Health Department.
