High winds hampered firefighting efforts and the fire spread to a pole barn, causing significant damage, according to the statement.

The high winds also caused spot brush fires to ignite in areas adjacent to the property and in the Country Classics development to the southwest of the initial fire, according to reports.

The fire does not appear suspicious at this time, officials said.

In addition to Hillsborough police, Hillsborough Fire Stations 36, 37 and 38; Neshanic Fire Company; Montgomery Fire Co. 1 and 2, Raritan Fire Department, Middlebush Fire Company, Griggstown Fire Company, Millstone Valley Fire Company, Manville Fire Department, Green Knoll Fire Company, Plainsboro Fire Company, Hopewell Fire, Three Bridges Fire Company, Robert Wood Johnson EMS, Montgomery Rescue Squad, Somerset County Emergency Management, Hillsborough Township Emergency Management, Hillsborough Bureau of Fire Safety and PSE&G responded to the scene.

No injuries were reported, according to Police Cpl. Craig Heindrichs.
