Basement of Hopewell Township home catches fire, no injuries reported

The Hopewell Township Police Department (HTPD), along with the Pennington Fire Department (PFD), responded to a Harbourton Ridge Road address in Hopewell Township for a residential structure fire. 

The residents were alerted to the odor of smoke coming from the basement of the residence, observed smoke and called 9-1-1 around 10:30 a.m. Nov. 24, according to information provided by the HTPD.

Fire personnel, under the command of Deputy Chief Roger Demareski of the PFD, arrived on location and extinguished the fire.

Responding agencies assisting the PFD were the Hopewell Valley Emergency Services, Hopewell Fire Department and Emergency Medical Unit, Union Fire Company and Rescue Squad, Ewing Township Fire Department, West Amwell Fire Department, and the Upper Makefield Fire Department.

The home suffered fire, smoke and water damage and was not habitable, according to the statement.

No injuries were reported. 

The fire does not appear to be suspicious in nature at this time, according to the statement.

The source of the fire is under investigation by Officer Ciosek and Detective Panzano of the HTPD and Fire Official Andrew Fosina of the Hopewell Valley Emergency Services.
