Red Bank council dedicates park pavilion to late planning board chairman

RED BANK — The members of the Red Bank Borough Council have dedicated the pavilion at East Side Park, Mechanic Street, to resident John Cash, who died in 2017.

According to a resolution the council members passed during a recent meeting, Cash was a member of the Planning Board for 20 years and served as the board’s chairman for 15 years.

Officials said Cash was an advocate for East Side Park and was instrumental in establishing a permanent park building with restroom facilities.

The Red Bank Parks and Recreation Committee recommended that the pavilion be dedicated in Cash’s name. A memorial plaque will be placed at the pavilion.

In other business:

• Council members authorized the purchase of a 2022 Ford Explorer (K8B) Base with four-wheel drive as a fire marshal office vehicle. The vehicle was purchased from Nielsen Ford in the amount of $35,486;

• Council members confirmed the appointment of Kaitlyn Hunt as a full-time senior clerk in the clerk and registrar’s office;

• Council members confirmed the appointment of Jymm Fenn as a part-time inspector in the fire marshal’s office;

• Council members passed a resolution requesting that Monmouth County officials install crosswalks at the intersection of East Bergen Place and Branch Avenue. Borough officials also requested that ramps required by the Americans with Disabilities Act be installed with the crosswalks at the county’s expense;

• Council members authorized a shared services agreement with Shrewsbury Township for emergency medical services.

According to a resolution, Red Bank has an existing contract for emergency medical services with a third party service provider, Community Health Group.

Community Health Group has agreed to expand its service area to encompass Shrewsbury Township in return for compensation paid by Shrewsbury Township to Red Bank toward the costs of the third party contract.
