Hazlet’s Land Use Board met on March 16 to memorialize two old cases and decide on a new one.

The board approved DeVimy Equities’ request for a use variance to construct a 2,688-square-foot Popeye’s restaurant with a drive-thru and Girgis & Girgis’ request for amending a site plan and variance to construct a larger monument sign; the board made a final resolution of the plans as they were.

The board’s final business was a new case with resident Rosemary Torretta. She plans on moving her father to her home, but due to his age, she requested making adjustments to her home.

Torretta is seeking permission to construct an 8-by-21-by-10-foot one-story addition, a 3-by-6-foot side platform entryway and enclosed front porch, as well as seeking variances for a combined yard setback of 18.64 feet and a rear setback of 20 feet.

The board asked Torretta about the original plans sent in and if she planned on changing them and if she had the appropriate permits for the construction.

The board indicated it would approve Torretta’s requests, provided all payments are made and paperwork is completed.

The memorialization of this case will take place at the next meeting on April 6.
