The First Presbyterian Church of Metuchen (“FPC”) will host an “Around the World Food & Drink” Festival on Saturday, October 19th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at FPC’s Social Center, 270 Woodbridge Avenue in Metuchen, New Jersey (adjacent to the FPC church building).  Everyone in the community is invited to this celebration of diversity.
At the Festival, food and drink booths representing countries of heritage or particular interest will provide unique cuisines from those countries as well as donated adult beverages that are local to the country for tasting.
FPC is reaching out to local restaurants requesting them to provide their specialty cuisines for the Festival’s booths. Upon admission, everyone attending will receive a passport which will be used to “go around the world” eating and drinking while exploring new cultures and heritages.
Admission is: $20 for ages 21 years and older; $10 for anyone under 21 years old; $5 for 10 years and under; two years and under attend for free.
“In a time when we feel the pressure to turn inwards, ‘The Around the World Food & Drink Festival’ is a celebration of our outwards diversity in the community and in our country,” commented Rev. Justin D. Karmann, Associate Pastor of FPC. “We hope this celebration with foods and drinks from around the globe will not only be a fun event that represents all of our diverse backgrounds, but also a fundraiser to support our Immigration and Sanctuary Church causes in order to care and protect the discarded.”
Anyone in the community interested in representing one of the countries at the Festival and in leading a booth, can contact Rev. Karmann, Associate Pastor of FPC, at (732) 491-2260 or jkarmann@fpcweb.org. All proceeds from this event go to the FPC Immigration /Sanctuary Church fund.
