Most people, when they think of musicals, envision the bright lights of Broadway and the national tours of revenue juggernauts. That’s far from the whole story. The cultural impact of musical theater is much more widespread. Professor Stacy Wolf presents a fascinating account of its importance for local, community, and high school musical productions, based on her own travels through grass-roots America. The prerecorded lecture will be streamed beginning Thursday, June 18, at 9 a.m. at https://princetonfestival.org/digital-event/beyond-broadway-lecture. The digital lecture is a component of “Virtually Yours,” a full month of digital content featuring many of the talented artists and lecturers who have appeared at The Princeton Festival. The free digital series continues through June 28. A daily calendar of events can be found at https://princetonfestival.org/virtually-yours.
