Join us at the Woodbridge Main Library April 19 at 3:30PM as presenter, Dr. Paitakes, will clarify and inform attendees of information acquired through his experience working over 50 years in the criminal justice system. The goal of this presentation is to clarify some of the “Myths” presented in the public sector and social media.
The following themes will be discussed:
- Once a criminal always a criminal
- Does prison make better criminals?
- There is no rehabilitation in prison
- Being on probation or parole is merely a “slap on the wrist”
- Police use excessive force on a regular basis
- Judges are too lenient
The presentation will be presented in an informal manner encouraging questions from attendees!

Dr. Paitakes is in his 50th year working in Criminal Justice. He was a Probation Officer in Somerset County for 29 yrs. Retiring as Assistant Chief Probation Officer. He then began his 2nd career teaching full time in the Political Science & Criminal Justice Dept at Seton Hall University where he received the Experiential Award from the Career Center for his outstanding service & dedication to undergraduate students in Internships. He has also adjuncted at Rutgers University, Kean University, Thomas Edison State University & Raritan Valley Community College. He was previously appointed by former Governor Christine Todd Whitman(1999) to the New jersey State Parole Board as an Alternate Board member where he served for 6 ½ yrs. He served on the Transition Team for Governor Chris Christie. He is presently an Adjunct Associate Professor at Rider University. He was recently appointed to the New Jersey State Parole Board once again by Governor Christie last June 2016.
